Asked Questions 2. Is DXS a web-based piece of software? 3. How does the updating work? 5. Can a user just have the small icons on the top toolbar without the larger DXS toolbar? 6. How much hard-disc space will DXS take on my clinical server? 7. How do I get help on DXS or learn more about the software?
The installation can be run by the practice. It is a straightforward installation which is mostly automatic. The installation must be run on the main clinical server. 2. Is DXS a web-based piece of software? No. DXS is fully integrated into your clinical system. The database and all components are loaded onto the main clinical server. No files are located on individual workstations. The Internet involvement is for the updating process - a connection is required only to update the DXS database with the latest drug and disease information from the 11 publishers. 3. How does the updating work? A scheduler is automatically installed onto the practice server. This sits in the SYSTRAY and runs as a process on the clinical server. At a set day and time (which can be chosen by the practice), DXS connects directly to the DXS server and updates the database. The process only updates incremental changes and usually takes about 10 minutes to complete. The scheduler is normally set to run overnight and should therefore not clash with any backup routines or other programmes running. DXS takes the subject of privacy and security very seriously. The update server, which the practice connects to, is as secure as we can make it. A firewall is in place, operating system security updates are continuous and virus scanning is run constantly using Norton Antivirus. Our privacy policy also states clearly that no doctor or practice information will be passed to any third party without prior consent. The full paper detailing Updating Security can be requested from DXS. 5. Can a user just have the small icons on the top toolbar without the larger DXS toolbar? No. All buttons showing DXS will be present when active. This is not user definable. 6. How much hard-disc space will DXS take on my clinical server? The only file of any great size that DXS deploy is the database. This is currently approximately 450Mb and will not grow by any great rate (a projected 50Mb per year). Most clinical servers have many gigabytes of free space, so installing DXS should not affect this. 7. How do I get help on DXS or learn more about the software? When utilising DXS,
you can use the F1 key at any time to access the Help function. This will
provide instructions and advice on all parts of the software. In addition,
included within your installation pack is a CD containing training tutorials
and aids. |
